Shutouts continue for IVC and Saddleback

Irvine Valley College won their third consecutive shutout match Friday night. IVC beat Saddleback College 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-14) in a quick match.

IVC is now 6-1 in the Orange Empire Conference and 10-4 overall. Saddleback is now 1-5 in the Orange Empire Conference and 3-10 overall.

While IVC shutout their last three opponents for wins, Saddleback was defeated in shutouts for three losses. Freshmen Nichole May and Caitlin Segert from IVC contributed each having six kills.

Segert also finished the game with a total of four blocks. Freshman Casey Williams had four blocks as well. Sophomore Mari Guadagnini finished with six kills, eight digs and three aces. Freshman Allie Hammer completed the game with 22 assists. Sophomore Amanda Donaldson contributed with seven digs. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, IVC defeated Santa Ana College 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-12).

Williams had six kills while Segert and freshman Carly Loucks each had five kills. Freshman Alyssa Swatek had a total of 12 digs. Sophomore Camryn Torromeo contributed with five digs of her own. Swatek also contributed to the win with four aces. Freshman Lanie Titterud had an outstanding 28 assists.

IVC will be playing today at 6 p.m. in the Hart Gymnasium. On Friday, IVC will travel to Cypress College and play at 6 p.m. Saddleback will play at Cypress at 6 p.m. and will host OCC on Friday at 6 p.m.
