Saddleback women’s volleyball returns home
In the first Women’s volleyball match played on their home floor in two years, the Gauchos fell to the Bakersfield Renegades in four games.
The home match was played on the new gymnasium floor which was flooded last fall before the start of the volleyball season.
The Gauchos had trouble on the offensive attack.
They didn’t score a single point on an offensive serve until the secon game of the match.
In the first game all of the points came on Renegade errors or via Bakersfield serving the ball.
The Gauchos lost the first two games. They won their third game in a tremendous effort 29-27.
The Renegades quickly stole back the momentum by jumping out to a 9-1 lead in the fourth game.
From that point on the game and match was in doubt for the Gauchos as they lossed the final game 25-18, and the match three games to one in favor of Bakersfield.
The Gauchos played their “home” games in various places last year.
The Gauchos should recieve some benefit from playing games on their own floor with the home crowd behind them this season.
With returning players along with some rookies the Gauchos look to improve on last year. Other conference teams lossed playersto transfers to four year schools.
The Gauchos will play at Southwestern Wednesday.
