Saddleback College piano Instructor, Kirill Gliadkovsky, will perform a range of compositions from Russian composers in Russian Spectacular this Sunday Mar. 10 at 3 p.m. in the McKinney Theater.
Gliadkovsky will perform the work of 19th century Russian Romantic composers: Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Tanneyyev, Medtner and Mussorgsky.

“All of the pieces are true masterpieces especially the Mussorgsky one. It is very appealing, easy listening and has great contrast with a lot of passion in them,” said Gliadkovsky.

Gliadkovsky will highlight the work of Modest Mussorgsky by giving a narrative to Mussorgsky’s Pictures of an Exhibition during the performance.

Russian Spectacular will hold a few surprises for those in attendance.

“I will talk to the audience and tell them the story behind the pieces,” he said. “There is an interesting story behind the composition in the pictures. It is a true story, but I don’t want to give it out just yet.”

Gliadkovsky encourages students to come to the concert because of the great quality of music at an affordable price.

“I would like to invite all to come, he said. “In order to hear this music you would have to go to a major concert hall like Disney Hall in Los Angeles and pay lots of money to hear this type of music live, but here in Saddleback students get a great bargain for this type of music.”

Russian Spectacular starts at 3 p.m. this Sunday in the McKinney Theater.
