Record night for Smith

While the rain was pouring down, the shots were falling in for Irvine Valley’s Tiffany Smith on Friday.

The freshman forward from Vista Murrieta High School hammered out a program-record 49 points in the Lasers 95-70 victory at Santa Monica College.

Smith added 17 rebounds and eight steals in the nonconference shootout.

With the win, the Lasers’ record improves to 7-1.

IVC will return to the court Thursday when it hosts the three-day IVC Women’s Tournament.- Cerise Ostrem
