Lasers golf barely stays undefeated
The IVC women’s golf team improved it’s record to 8-0 by defeating four teams at Riverview Golf course.
Felicia Titus came out strong once again for the Lasers with a score of 78.
Alex Cavillo had a score of 83 while Val Watts finished with 85. IVC has a three match lead on Santiago Canyon College who they played on Wednesday.
On Wednesday the freshmen of the team were on target.
Their win raised there record to 12-0.
Leading the team was Sam Roberts and Titus, who propelled the Lasers with four more victories last Wednesday at Tijeras Creek.
The Lasers stayed undefeated as they knocked off rival Santiago Canyon College by one stroke. The Lasers finished with a score of 342.
Santiago now stands at 8-4 on the season. Santa Ana finished with 354.
Roberts finished with a 78 on the day including three birdies. While Titus scored a 79.
“That was a great 95 score by Alex Cavillo. Coming off a birdieon the eigth hole, Alex positioned to shoot a solid front nine score of 40. But on the ninth hole, her first two tee shots hit the cart pathand bounced right into the street and out of bounds” said IVC Coach Burnett said.
“She played holes 9, 10, 11 and 12at 18 over par. Most would tend to lose focus and never recover from such a strong of blow up holes. However, Alex composed herself and played the last six holes at 1 under par. Her birdie on number 18 provided the margin of the Lasers one stroke victory” Burnett said.
The Lasers will to stay undefeated against Fullerton at El Prado today at 11 a.m.
Then the Lasers will play against the conference teams at Oak Creek next monday at 12:30 p.m. At the end of the week the standings remain the same Lasers on top. With a lead of five games
