IVC Lasers Upset Undefeated SDCC Knights Gymnasium

Irvine Valley College women’s volleyball won their fourth game of the season against the all-freshmen undefeated women of San Diego City College. The Lasers won 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-18).

The non-conference game was held at home in the Hart Gymnasium. The Lasers defeated San Diego to give the Knights their first loss of the season.

The first two matches went smoothly for IVC but there seemed to be some confusion in rotation during the third match. IVC was able to win the third match 25-18. Scoring against San Diego seemed to come easily for the IVC team.

Sophomore Camyrn Torromeo kept the intensity up with her high energy and constant coverage for her team. Nichole May and Caitlin Segert worked perfectly together to block the ball from getting over the net.

Freshmen Casey Williams from Beckman High School had 10 kills and 3 digs. Williams created only 1 error out of 17 attempts.

Torromeo created a season-high of 6 kills and 5 digs. Torromeo had another season-high of 6 aces.

Even with all 15 players getting into the game Allie Hammer was able post 26 assists and 2 aces.
