IVC finishes 1-2 in Hartnell Tourney

After a strong start to the three-day Hartnell Tournament, Irvine Valley’s men’s soccer team had a disappointing close.In the opening round Friday, the Lasers came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat American River, 5-2.

IVC had a harder time finding the back of the net in Saturday’s semifinal against Cabrillo as, despite out-shooting their opponent, the Lasers were dealt their first loss of the season in a 1-0 shutout.

Hosting Hartnell wouldn’t allow the Lasers to rebound from their slide in the third place game Monday morning. With the 1-4 loss, IVC’s record dropped to 1-2.

The Lasers will look to rebound from the two losses Tuesday, Sept. 4 when they face San Diego Mesa in their home opener at 4 p.m.
