IVC clinches second in OEC
IVC men’s soccer took a 3-0 victory over Cypress to secure a second place in the Orange Empire Conference on Thursday.
The Lasers started strong as Ashley Cattermole scored in the fifth minute of the game off a pass from Erik Van Der Meulen. IVC held off the Chargers for the rest of the half, adding to its lead as Corey Cordray scored to finish off an attempt by Jack Plummer.
With a 2-0 lead at half time, the Lasers were very confident, and they used this confidence to close the game early in the second half, capitalizing on a botched attempt to clear a corner kick allowing Darren Whitty to head the ball in off a pass from Scott Gressard.
With this victory, IVC will go into the regional playoffs on a high note. Playoff schedules will be released Wednesday.
