Gaucho Volleyball savor second win
Gaucho Women’s Volleyball turned a slow start around and won two straight games. On Sept. 17 Saddleback’s women’s volleyball faced Grossmont at home to win 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 15-25, 25-21). The Lady Gauchos are now 2-3 of the season. Freshman middle-back Sarah Worley from Capistrano Valley High School stayed strong with 11 kills, 4 service aces and 4 solo blocks. Middle-back and freshman Ashleigh Cottrell from Oceanside High School helped out with 6 of her own solo blocks.
Freshman Rachel Talafus from San Clemente High School defended well with an outstanding 29 defensive digs, which was an improvement of 7 digs from the last match.
The freshman kept up their success with 16 digs by Alicia Dishno from Capistrano Valley High School. Katie Harper from Capistrano Valley High School added on with 14 digs.
The Gauchos will host Palomar Community College today at 6 p.m. On Friday San Diego City College will visit the Gauchos gym at 5 p.m.
Orange Empire Conference games begin Friday Oct. 3 for Saddleback at 6 p.m. against Cypress in the Gauchos gym. The Gauchos will then head to Orange Coast College to play the Pirates Wednesday Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
