The Irvine Valley baseball team is set to host a first round Southern California Regional playoff series for the first time in school history.

The No. 4 seeded Lasers (29-15) narrowly came in behind Orange Coast College as third in the Orange Empire Conference. Its 13-8 finish in conference play broke the program record for most conference victories in a season.

IVC will begin postseason play Friday when it faces No. 13 East Los Angeles College at 3 p.m. The best of three-game series will continue Saturday at 11 a.m. The victor will advance to the super regional the following weekend.
