Rekeshia Jones, a 6-foot-3 center from El Camino High School, made her sophomore year as a Gaucho a memorable one.
In 31 games this season, Jones averaged 17.2 points per game as well as lead her team in rebounds.
She had a game high of 31 points in a 98-81 victory against Riverside, Feb. 6.
The Gauchos finished second in the Orange Empire Conference, advancing to within one game of the state tournament. Down the stretch, Jones, definitely stepped up her game averaging a double-double nine of her last 10 games.
While establishing an inside-outside game with teammate Cassie Klockgether, the dynamic duo made several key plays in crucial moments. Jones especially was clutch at the free throw line to spoil IVC’s homecoming night.
In the first round of the playoffs against College of the Canyons, Jones made a dominant presence at the center position. She finished with 28 points and 18 rebounds in the 84-59 first round playoff victory.
