Executive Senate meeting discusses project “Kognito At-Risk Training,” reactivating the Career Technical Education committee, and the Learning Resource Center’s Program Assisting Student-Athlete Success (PASS) March 27.

Project Kognito would assist students who struggle with depression, anxiety, and stress according to Mariana DeSaracho and Maryam, Azary, co-chairs of the Kognito At-Risk training program. The program consists of a 30-minute online interactive guide that provides students with appropriate counseling and tools to deal with mental health issues.

In addition, a request has been made to the Academic Senate to reactivate the Career Technical Education Committee. This is a part of an ongoing process known as the Student Success Initiative which focuses efforts on student job alignment according to committee members.

Instructor Christina Hinkle discussed the PASS tutoring opportunity. PASS provides structured tutoring tailored specifically to Saddleback student-athletes, held in LRC 212 Monday through Friday (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Students currently participating in a school sport may register via MySite for this program under course ID TU300, ticket no. 80390.

These topics will be further discussed at the next official Academic Senate meeting: April 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the AGB Large Conference rom.
