The lady Gauchos of Saddleback College took on the Chargers of Cypress College in an Orange Empire conference clash, Tuesday Oct. 22, at Saddleback College. The lady Gauchos who contain the leading scorer in the state, true freshman Danyelle Allen (20) and the assist’s leader, freshman forward Kathryn Kazzi (6) got revenge Tuesday against Cypress.

The lady Gauchos, who lost earlier in the season to Cypress, had the Chargers as only one of the two blemishes on their 8-2-5 record, as they sought revenge Tuesday afternoon.

The game started slow with ball stifling defenses from both teams as Alexandria Scott showed why she is ranked first in the conference for saves, as she stopped the Chargers on 6 goal attempts only allowing one at 35:00 in the first half.  After a dry opening 25 minutes in the first half, it was freshman midfielder Ashley Chavez who kicked off the scoring at 29:00 with some shifty footwork after a great pass from Alyssa Conrad the freshman out of Tesoro.

As the lady Gauchos started to heat up, it was sophomore captain Jenny Kraska who matched Chavez’s goal with one of her own as she challenged a 50/50 ball and won the header from freshman Danyelle Allen at 60:00 in the second half. To wrap up the scoring assault was ex-University star Kathryn Kazzi, after taking off from midfield with the ball, taking on two Charger defenders and immediately making them miss while keeping possession of the ball, then hitting in a well struck ball at 76:00 in the second half as the lady Gauchos went on to win 3-1.

The lady Gauchos are set to take on the Lady Dons of Santa Ana College this Friday Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. at Saddleback.
