Basketball 2013 Playoffs Update: IVC men advance, Saddleback women out

Lasers advance to first round of the 2013 CCCAA Men’s Basketball Southern California Regionals

UPDATE (9:36 p.m.): Foward Michael Bolden and guard Shaquille Hunter tied for a game high 17 points for the Lasers. Bolden also had game highs in rebounds (9), blocks (3), and three-pointers (3). The Lasers made 24 of 49 shots from the field, and went 12-16 from the free throw line.

The Lasers topped the Santa Ana Dons 69-55 in a play-in game on Wednesday night. The Lasers advance now to play at the number four seed Chaffey College Panthers on Saturday Mar. 2 at 7:00 p.m.

Lady Gauchos fall flat in second half on route to quick playoff exit

Despite leading 55-40 at halftime, the Lady Gauchos struggled to score in the second half, as they fell to the Palomar Comets 89-73. The Comets outscored Saddleback 56-27 in the second half. Last year, the Lady Gauchos made it to the playoffs, but were bounced out in the first round by the Chaffey Panthers by a score of 67-61. Saddleback finishes with a record of 15-16, and they have now finished with a sub-.500 record for the fourth time in five years.
