Athletes of the Week – 9/16/09

Keegan Gogerty:
In a record setting 72-7 blowout of Mt. San Jacinto College on Saturday, Gogerty was one of the offensive stars.
Gogerty scored three one-yard touchdown runs in the Gauchos’ rout of the Eagles. Gogerty also gained 42 yards rushing on 11 carries. Gogerty added six yards recieving on two catches.
The 5’10” 200 lbs. sophomore running back graduated from Mission Viejo High School in 2007.
Melissa Chavez:
In the Saddleback women’s volleyball season opener, Melissa Chavez was a key factor. Chavez put in 14 kills in the home opening 3-1 victory over Southwestern College.
The 5’9″ freshman is an outside hitter for the Gauchos. Chavez graduated from Capistrano Valley High School in 2009.Chavez was the captain of the women’s volleyball team for the Cougars.
Chavez is currently undecided on her major.
