Transfer Day kicks off for fall

Transfer Day is an event where colleges from both in and out of state compete for the attention and tuition of Saddleback College students. Transfer Day occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Services Quad.
Students had the opportunity to wander through the various kiosks set up by colleges and collect information on their desired schools. This is the single largest event organized by the Transfer Department.
According to Barbara Benavides, the senior Transfer Center specialist, every year attendance increases as a result of how many universities choose to line up to recruit from Saddleback.
At the last Transfer Day there were 83 campuses represented, this year over 65 four-year colleges and universities were represented. She was particularly excited about new additions to the event this year, University of Las Vegas and Columbia University.
“Every day is transfer day at Saddleback,” Benavides said as she went over the various programs and activities offered through the transfer department.
Throughout the event, students had several opportunities to learn about their desired campus.
Numerous workshops are offered to aid the student in their transfer goals. Some target the application process of a specific campus, while others focus on preparation in general.
Choose wisely, however, as many workshops overlap including the “So you want to transfer to a California State University,” “So you want to transfer to an out-of-state university,” and “So you want to transfer to a University of California.”
Students are encouraged to use the Saddleback website which is updated daily. Online students can see all the information the Transfer Center has to offer.
Transfer Day is a once-a-year event where students are able to get up close and personal with representatives from the various colleges they hope one day to join.
