Students got lucky on St. Patrick’s Day with root beer-pong and pinatas
in the quad yesterday for the March Club Rush.

“From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be students out here checking out the clubs,” said Shay Sharp, Director of Student Clubs and Organizations. “There’s free goodies and there’s also a photo booth where you and your friends can take pictures together.”

Cookies and information flyers were also distributed by the Associated Student Government.

“We’re promoting applications for ASG for next year and starting clubs for next year,” said ASG member, Briana Cooke.

Treats varying from rainbow cupcakes by the Pride Alliance and homemade tacos by the Future Teachers Club were spread across shaded stands for potential club members.

“I expected a higher turn out and more traffic but really, it’s kind of laid back and mellow,” said Francisco Hernandez, President of FTC.

Nonetheless, three tables arranged for root-beer pong were occupied by teams of four players each. Simultaneously, 10 students lined up for the giant pot-of-gold pinata.

“Everyone seems energized to me,” said ASG member, Maryam Sabhai. “They’re very happy walking through here.”
