Saddleback feeds the hungry, even you.
Saddleback College, partnered with Helping Hand Worldwide, is offering students and members of the community free groceries.
The first and third Wednesday of each month those in need are able to receive groceries between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 1 at the front of campus.
“This is primarily for students, but we allow the public,” Student Center worker Chris Tate, 20, said. To qualify for the groceries you must sign-up when you arrive and take a short survey pertaining to location and income. Numbers are distributed and people are called in groups according to their numbers. “The produce and meats are broken down and you can take a little bit from each section. If there are leftovers you can go back again,” Tate said.
Income verification and parking permits are not required. You must bring your own grocery bags. For more information you may contact the head of the program, Jeanne Harris-Caldwell, at 949-582-4607.
