Shooting at Oregon community college leaves 10 dead, others injured

A mass shooting on the campus of of Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, claimed the lives of 10 and injured seven. Original reports said 13 people were killed and 20 injured according to NBC News , but shortly before 5 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin confirmed the estimates.

Multiple sources identified the shooter as Chris Harper Mercer, 26.

The shooting was called in at 10:38 a.m., local time, and the college immediately went into lockdown mode.
After the shooting had ended, some students remained inside the school awaiting proper evacuation. Other students were bused to a nearby fairgrounds.
The college currently has around 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students.
