Former Saddleback student arrested for double homicide
Former Saddleback College student Ashton Sachs, 19-year-old computer science major, was arrested yesterday, charged with the murder of parents Andra and Bradford Sachs, and the attempted-murder of his two siblings.
His arraignment, where the defendant has the opportunity to enter a plea, will take place in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana March 10 at 10 a.m.
“He was a fun, nice guy who loved to joke around,” Thomas Nixon, a former high school peer, said. “He seemed a little sketchy, but that’s insane.”
Sachs is currently being held without bail and, if convicted, will face a life-sentence and the possibility of the death penalty.
The homicide occurred on Feb. 9, resulting in his parents’ death and the paralysis of his 8-year-old brother. Having been in Seattle previous to the homicide, Sachs was accused of returning to Orange County with malicious intent and fleeing soon after the murder, according to the Orange County District Attorney press release.
No motive has been discovered so far during the ongoing investigation.
