Former Lasers basketball player identified as person killed on freeway by Saddleback College
The Orange County Coroner’s Office has identified 21-year-old Darius Porter of Mission Viejo as the man killed on the I-5 freeway near Saddleback College on Monday night.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department blotter, they received a call around 6:20 p.m. of a pedestrian running into oncoming traffic on the northbound lane of the I-5 freeway near Avery Parkway.. The OC Coroner’s release says that Porter was pronounced dead at 6:47 p.m.
Porter played for the Irvine Valley College basketball team last season, appearing in six games for the Lasers. He shot 2-4 from the field, and made five of six free throw attempts. His name was not listed on the online roster for the 2013-14 season.
