Psi Beta and Psychology club host week-long event
The Psi Beta & Psychology Club will be hosting Psychology Week from April 14- 17 at Saddleback College. The week-long function will be featuring a number of events focusing on academic topics in psychology.
“This year we’re trying to go big,” said Psi Beta & Psychology Club President Melissa Mirando. “We have almost 20 events.”
Some of the events include:
Men and Women in Conversation
The Psychology of Addiction
Dynamics and Treatment of Sexual Dysfunction
Body Image and Media
Suzanne Koch Eckenrode, a marriage and family therapist, will be speaking at one of the events on Monday, April 14 that focuses on gambling addiction.
She specializes in treating patients with gambling addiction, eating disorders, codependency and anxiety.
Another event on Monday, Men and Women in Conversation, will focus on the dynamics of communication between men and women. It will feature Cal State Fullerton and Saddleback Professor Susan Leavy who is also a marriage and family therapist.
The majority of the events will be held at the Student Services Committee Building with the exception of two events in the quad and Health Sciences Building.
Mirando said the Psi Beta & Psychology Club has been hosting Psychology Week at Saddleback during the spring semester for many years. They also host Mental Health Awareness Week every fall semester.
