Oogie Boogie Bash, a scarily good value

On Aug. 25, the Disneyland Resort once again hosted its annual Halloween celebration at their Disney California Adventure Park — the Oogie Boogie Bash. The ticketed event costs $135 and whether you’re a Disney adult, a candy lover or have the patience of a child when it comes to wait times, this event is totally worth the purchase.
The Oogie Boogie Bash offers an extensive number of event-exclusive offerings such as food, attractions and treat trails. The ticket also allows you to enter Disney California Adventure Park three hours before the event starts.
Disneyland cast members passed out sweets through themed treat trails that provided an unlimited amount of candy.
I visited the park on Aug. 29 and was immersed in the Halloween spirit from the moment I entered the gates because of the elaborate theming. Disney villain meet-and-greets, photo ops and parades added value to the experience and therefore the price point.
Magic Key holders are not guaranteed admission and often buy tickets to this event to explore its exclusive offerings. I asked Kamri Pree, a 41-year-old Magic Key holder from Los Angeles, about her experience at the Oogie Boogie Bash.
“We were able to go on as many rides as we wanted to,” said Kamri Pree. “We pay about $1,600 annually as Magic Key holders. It’s a good deal to experience the park for a fraction of the price.”
Limited capacity made the wait times significantly shorter, and this was a relief for guests like Pree who have dealt with the summertime Disneyland crowds. For example, I was able to get on Radiator Springs Racers, the most popular ride at Disney California Adventure Park, in under 20 minutes.
Ticket costs were fair for an exclusively well-themed night at the Oogie Boogie Bash that provided exclusive foods and attractions, as well as shortened attraction wait times. I recommend going to this year’s Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure Park if any of those offerings appeal to you.
