November’s Club Rush: join or start a club at Saddleback College
Here’s a video of Octobers Club Rush about the different clubs offered to students at Saddleback College.
November Club Rush is this Thursday, Nov. 20 in the quad from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Most clubs are designed to nurture the field-study or career choice that meets students interest. Club Rush is scheduled to take place once a month in the quad. More information can be found about various clubs in the Student Development Office.
One example of a club is the “Lending Love Club” inviting all students to take part in helping those in need. The club visits orphanages, retirement homes, kids hospitals and shelters for the homeless. joining clubs like this can also look great on resumes and college applications because it falls under community service.
“The way a club starts is it has to have a district faculty advisor or full time Saddleback staff member and a president, treasurer and vice president who must attend club core workshops,” said Chelsea Hateley, club facility director. “Clubs have to be student run and they must have at least 5 members to begin.”
Hateley also said club presidents have to take “Club Core” which are workshops taught by Erin Long on topics regarding the budget and event planning. Club core is offered the first Friday of every month. Clubs must create bylaws and a constitution.
