“Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” was a great first movie to be released by Marvel Studios in theaters. Compared to other Marvel movies, I believe it is the best origin story since “Iron Man” and it gives off the same vibe as 2018s “Black Panther.” There is amazing scenery throughout with skilled fights taking place at stunning locations.

The movie is an origin story about a man named Shang-Chi, the first asian superhero, who has to deal with his past that he had left behind when he was a child. From the big fight scenes in the beginning to the amazing end, Shang Chi was able to carry its own in what is supposed to be an experiment for future films produced by Disney.

Shang Chi (Simu Liu) is a Chinese immigrant from Honan Province, China. He was trained in martial arts by his father Wenwu at a young age. After leaving his father, he moves to San Francisco, changes his name to Shaun and becomes a valet worker with his best friend, Katy, who is played by Awkwafina.

The Mandarin, known as Wenwu, found the ten rings, which was his main source of power to rein dominance over the world. After Shang Chi was attacked on a bus by men that worked for his father, his life starts to unravel.

This film not only answers the big question of who the Mandarin is, the fake Mandarin in 2013s “Iron Man 3.” but we also learn how Shaun would be integrated into Phase 4 and the future of marvel.

The martial arts throughout this movie was incredible, especially in the fight across the mythical village of Ta-Lo, where Shang-Chi and Xialing’s mother is from. The integration between all the different fighting styles, different weaponry and mythical animals was a magnificent sight to see.

Unlike 2021s “Black Widow,” this Marvel film won’t be streamed under Disney+’s Premier Access. This made the movie an experiment coined by Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek. Others came to Twitter after hearing about this being called an interesting experiment.

“We are not an experiment,” said Shang Chi’s star, Simu Liu. “We are the underdog; the underestimated. We are the ceiling-breakers. We are the celebration of Culture and Joy that will persevere after an embattled year.”

Shang-Chi has earned $127.6M in its three day worldwide box office opening, passing both Black Widow and Suicide Squad. The film also made Labor Day Records with its box office performance. Shang Chi currently has earned $257.6M worldwide according to Forbes

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brings up the importance of family and the struggles that might come between relatives, which is such a big thing in the world.

In all, I believe that Marvel has hit another home run with this movie and I can’t wait to see Shang-Chi in future films for the MCU.
