Environmental Club organizes campus clean-up

The Environmental Awareness Club at Saddleback College is gathering students for Earth Week’s Campus Clean Up event at the SSC Quad on Thursday, April 24.

Students will be divided into separate teams to collect trash around campus from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The team with the most trash will win a prize.

“Water can be impacted in the several different ways and a lot of pollutions that come into the water is from land-based pollution,” said Dr. Morgan Barrows, Department Chair of Environmental Studies and Marine Science Technology. “So, our whole idea is just to clean up the campus to protect the lands.”

The Environmental Awareness Club is hosting Earth Week  from April 21 to April 24 to inform students of environmental concerns and to encourage them to take action in protecting and preserving the Earth.

“You don’t have to bring anything because we have gloves and bags,” said Drew Yearwood, President of Environmental Awareness Club. “We want everyone to come, even if you can help out for just 20 minutes.”
