Saddleback College’s 2014 Veterans Week to be held near the quad
Saddleback College Student Veterans Council will host its annual Veterans Week Nov. 10-13 with a variety of events.
“The purpose is to honor all Armed Forces veterans and create a supportive environment for the growing population of veterans and military-affiliated students on campus,” said publicity committee member Ashley Cronk in press release.
The event will begin on Monday, Nov. 10 in the quad near the Veterans Memorial, the 6th annual “Field of Flags” memorial will be displayed.
“Each flag represents a distinct number of US military veterans lost in combat in various conflicts in our nation’s history,” Cronk wrote.
Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a modified “Combat Fitness Course” will be held. Prizes will be provided by a number of vendors, T-shirts will be available for purchase and food will be served.
Thursday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Veterans Student Council and VETS Club will be serving freedomdogs, chili, and snacks. Members from OC Freedom will share their experiences from past wars.
