BRIEF: Sciences Building construction progress summary

With its external work nearly completed, construction continues on the interior. (Niko LaBarbera / Lariat)

Walter Rice, director of facilities planning, shared an update on the construction on the new Sciences Building located at the corner of Library Drive and College Drive East.

  • Deconstruction of the asphalt is now complete in parking lot 5. Concrete continues to be laid into the north and northwest sides of the building.
  • Flooring installation continues on the first two floors. Light fixtures, power outlets covers, lighting control relay installation and supplemental programming continues on all floors.
  • Upper cabinet light fixtures and power outlets cover installation is ongoing throughout the building.
  • Fire caulking continues to be placed on all the floors with continuous inspection and review. Pretesting on the accompanying fire alarm system has been completed.
