BRIEF: Science building progress update

Work on the science building’s interior has intensified as work on the outside nears total completion. (Niko LaBarbera / Lariat)

Outside groundwork for the area near parking lot 5 and the northwest plaza is complete according to Walter Rice, director of facility planning for the South Orange County Community College District. Final installation of groundwork continues on the northeast side of the building and at the end of the driveway for the remaining pavement.

Installation of hollow metal doors is ongoing in all labs. Equipment for the labs, which includes chemical storage cabinets, bio-safety cabinets, autoclaves and under counter washer have been delivered.

Fire alarm horns and strobes are being tested and installed throughout the building along with general touch-up painting.
