BRIEF: Science Building construction update

Work continues steadily on both the outside and interior of the science building. (Niko Labarbera / Lariat)

Walter Rice, director of facilities planning for the South Orange County Community College District, reports construction on the Science Building continues.

Demolition of the asphalt in parking lot 5 has been completed. Concrete pouring is now taking place on the east side with much of the hardscape in place.

Landscaping is continuing with jute netting, irrigation mains and plant material now being placed.

Casework and epoxy resin countertop installation is ongoing in the building. This is supplemented by the installation of fume hoods, electrical and ductwork as well.

Speakers and other AV equipment are currently being delivered to the site for installation.
