Student art juried by Saddleback Faculty

The 2013 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will be held May 6 to 11 in Saddleback College’s art gallery. Students have submitted over 200 pieces of artwork to be juried by the faculty. 

All art students at Saddleback will enter one or more pieces of their own artwork, whether it is paintings, sculptures or drawings. All pieces of artwork are to be juried, and a chosen 60 pieces will compete for multiple awards.

Unofficial named awards will be best in show, the dean’s choice and the winner will be picked by President Dr. Tod Burnett.

Beverly Jacobs, art, who has a Ph. D in physiology said, “When my kids were young I took up ceramics, because I liked it.”

Jacobs has a undeclared major here at Saddleback, but attends school for further personal development and professional training in ceramics.

Jacobs submitted one piece of Matrix artwork she calls “Unnamed,” which consists of twenty five individual ceramic pieces that make up one piece of art. 

Director of the art gallery Bob Rickerson explained how the exhibit is a mixed media gallery, and has been running the show for 11 years.
