Finalists compete for the crown March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre. Saddleback’s first vocal competition auditions were held Feb. 24 where students sang their hearts out to be selected as one of the 16 finalists.
Music instructor Arial Alexander said she was hired to start a commercial music program at Saddleback. She added that the competition is covering a whole new genre of music that has not been reached before. Rather than serving only classical and jazz students, the program has reached out to a more broad range of music including pop, rock and soul. The competition gives students a chance to share their talent, musical interest, and even bring awareness to unique, self-written songs.
Tickets are $10 general, $7 students/seniors.
