Wednesday’s soccer recap

Tuesday afternoon saw the Saddleback soccer team and both the Irvine Valley men’s and women’s team in action. Here is a rundown of their games:

SADDLEBACK 1 FULLERTON 0

Despite Fullerton making 15 shots on the goal, Saddleback managed to keep the Hornets scoreless, giving Fullerton its third consecutive loss. The Gauchos moved to 5-7-3 on the season (3-6-3 in conference play). Their next game will be Friday when they travel to face off against the Orange Coast Pirates.

FULLERTON 2 IRVINE VALLEY 1

The IVC men’s soccer team saw their winning streak end at two, as they lost at home to the Hornets. Freshman Joe Rousseau scored the Lasers only goal in the 39th minute of the game. Fullerton was held scoreless through the first half, but came back to tie the game at 1-1 in the 63rd minute. 

A penalty kick by Fullerton freshman midfielder Misael Samaypa in the 82nd minute proved to be the game winner for the Hornets. Irvine Valley fell to 6-8-2 on the season (3-6-0 in conference play). The Lasers next game is on Friday when they will head up north to take on the Orange Coast Pirates.
