Dust off your bowling ball and have some fun bowling and meeting the members of Future Teachers Club of Saddleback College at Saddleback Lanes on Nov. 5, at 8:30 p.m.

Future Teachers Club is inviting students who are interested in being educators to come to the fun filled event and see what the club is all about.

“Club members have a chance to meet and get together and have fun,” said Jennifer Forster, transfer center counselor and advisor for the club.

A new club as of last spring, they have somewhere in the vicinity of thirty active members at this time, with the intention of growing larger.

“Anyone interested in teaching is welcome,” Forster said.

Future teachers club has the following mission statement: The purpose of the future teachers club is to create a social networking environment for aspiring educators to promote interest in and knowledge of the teaching profession. Activities include attending conferences, workshops and learning about teacher preparation pathways.

Members of Future Teachers Club recently joined Southern California Teachers Association and will be attending their fall conference, which will be held Nov. 14-16 at the Sheraton park hotel in Anaheim. Students will be covering topics on communication styles, public speaking, and drama in the classroom.

The club has opportunities for leadership as well as community service.

“In the spring we’re hoping to organize a service project working with less fortunate children in the community,” Forster said.

One more opportunity to consider for meeting the club members or signing up to become one is the Fall fair that will be held on the Saddleback campus on Nov. 12. The event is a club rush and will enable students to check out the various clubs on campus. For more information on this event contact the Associated Student Government.
