Taylor’s Take

Taylor

Another successful season ended on a disappointing note Saturday as the Gauchos fell 34-24 to College of the Canyons in the 1st Round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The most disappointing part was Saddleback could have won this game for sure if not for all the turnovers that Canyons turned into more than half of their points.  Four Saddleback turnovers resulted in 21 of Canyons’ 34 points!  The Gauchos were behind 20-7 midway through the 2nd Quarter, but turned it around to trail only 27-24 after 3 quarters.

In the 4th quarter, I thought they had momentum shifting when they were driving in Canyon territory to very possibly tie the game up or take the lead, but momentum swung the other way when Saddleback fumbled and Canyons recovered and scored a game clinching touchdown minutes later.

That was the turning point in the middle of the 4th quarter to spell Saddlebacks’ fate.

Hey!  It was still another great season and they backed up last seasons’ results as well by making the state playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year.

I am betting on another run like this next year where hopefully they can continue to build up better results each year from the past two successful seasons!
