Breaking news: This evening’s season opening game for the Saddleback Gauchos softball team has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Saddleback assistant athletic director and sports information director Jerry Hannula said that tonight’s game versus the Palomar Comets has been postponed, and it will now be held this Thursday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m.

According to The Weather Channel’s website, the forecast calls for today’s rain to continue into tomorrow morning. Sunday is expected to be mostly clear, and Monday is predicted to have a 30% chance of rain.

This means that Monday afternoon’s matchup against the Grossmont Griffins will now serve as the season opener for the Gauchos. Hannula said that Monday’s game is not expected to be affected by the weekend rain, but they will reevaluate the field conditions on Monday morning.
