Second half buries Gauchos

After half time Friday, Cypress College (11-11, 2-1) returned to the Saddleback’s floor with a four-point lead. The Chargers left that night as 94-73 victors.

The difference between both halves could be found in the stat sheet following the Orange Empire Conference game. In the second half, Cypress boosted its shooting percentage from 38.7% to 60.0%, from the field and 20.0% to 60.0% from outside the arc to offensively overpower the hosts.

Sophomore guard Darryl Best led Saddleback with 16 points and four rebounds. Freshman forward Donovan Clark finished with 15 points and freshman guard Matt Ahrens added nine points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Saddleback’s record drops to (8-14, 1-3). Following a conference bye Wednesday, the Gauchos will look to rebound Jan. 25 when they travels to Orange Coast College for a 5:30 p.m. start.
