Saddleback women’s golf finished second at Oak Creek Country Club during the four-team conference match Wednesday.

Leading the way for the Gauchos, freshman Lana Cox took medalist honors with a 4-over-par 75. Saddleback also received strong performances by Brittany Ruble (81), Karolyne Crowe (83), and Korri Broadhead (87).

The Gauchos improve to 10-5 overall, and remain in second place in the conference.

Santiago Canyon College (13-2) took first place in the match keeping them atop the conference standings, while Irvine Valley College (6-9) secured third place, and Santa Ana College (1-14) stayed in the basement with a fourth place finish.

It was not surprising the match results mirrored the Orange Empire Conference standings, as Saddleback shot a team score of 338, 14 strokes over the 324 the team shot last week on the same course.

The Gauchos will look to keep pace with Santiago Canyon as the team will host Santa Ana and IVC on Wednesday. The conference match will kick off at Tijeras Creek Golf Course at 10:30 a.m.
