The Saddleback Men’s tennis team opened their 2008 season with a 7-2 victory over Southwestern College (in Chula Vista) on Tuesday, January 29, 2008.

While the Gauchos were defeated in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, they ran the table in all of their other matches. Sophomore Bryce Keefer led the Gauchos by winning his No. 2 singles match (6-1, 6-3).

With little difficulty at No. 3 singles, Travis McClellan beat his opponent 6-0, 6-1, and Charlie Hunt extended his No. 4 singles match to a third set, going on to win 1-6, 7-6, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, McClellan teamed with Blake Emery, winning 8-3.

Hunt paired with sophomore Jason Bradshaw at No. 3 doubles to also produce an 8-3 victory.

The Gauchos were not so fortunate against Mt. San Jacinto two days later, falling 9-0 in a non-conference match. Saddleback travels to Palomar on Thursday and to Glendale on Friday.
