Owner of a 1989 Honda Civic (EF)
Hey guys, what’s up? Before we get started, I want to give you a little background information on myself. My name is Dominic, I’m a first year student at Saddleback, I drive a 1989 Honda Civic (EF), and I am pretty involved in the import scene.
So let’s get started with something that has been on my mind for the past couple of months. I have subscribed to a couple of different magazines in my day, and have yet to be fully satisfied. They are either biased towards one particular group of cars, lack quality writers and features, or repeat the same stories over and over again. Now, I’m not going to name drop, but the magazine that I have been a 5 year dedicated subscriber of is going to lose a customer.
Before I start on why, lets get something straight. STi’s and Evo’s are definitely solid cars, but I can’t take it anymore. Every issue I’m receiving has at least 3 different STi or Evo stories. I’m tired of reading about those cars. When I open my mailbox and see that colorful magazine cover, I pray that there are no STi/Evo stories, yet time after time I am disappointed. I want stories that I can relate to, build-ups that I can feel apart of, and features that I am interested in. I don’t know, maybe I’m being selfish. But I feel that the only cars this magazine is featuring are cars in the 30k-50k ranges. It’s not fair that some of the readers are left out because they can’t relate to these types cars or don’t have enough money to own these types of cars. So goodbye I say to them, and hello to another search for my “perfect” magazine.
Anyway, getting away from my ranting, I have some news to talk about. NWP4LIFE (A website that has forums, articles, and profiles on import cars) is once again having their annual NWP4LIFE EVENT. This event will be hosted this Saturday, January 26. Its location is at Eibach Springs in Corona (264 Mariah Circle, Corona, CA, 92879). Parking is going to be limited due to the alarming rate that this meet grows each year. It starts at 2 p.m. and goes until 7 p.m. It is open to all makes and models of cars so every tuner is invited. There will also be awards given for categories such as “Best Honda”, “Best Euro”, “Best Domestic”, and “Best Old School”. Sadly, the registration for competing in the show has now been closed, but that shouldn’t discourage you from coming out and showing your ride!
Next article, I hope to be writing about modifications and maintenance that can be done by your self and are inexpensive. I will also be writing on the impact the FnF (Fast and the Furious) Movies have had on the import culture.
