Lasers shut out by Hornets

The Irvine Valley Lasers Men’s Soccer team could not get a goal as they were shut out by Fullerton by the score of 1-0. The Laser’s entered last week’s game in third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings as they played the second place Hornets. The Hornets scored the only goal of the game in the final two minutes of the game, as freshmen mid fielder Jose Preciado scored in the 88th minute on a free kick taken from the left side of the field. The kick was an estimated 30 yards. The kick was deflected by IVC goaltender Mikhail Radchuk into the net.

With the win put Fullerton on the Don’s of Santa Ana’s heel for first place in conference. IVC still remains in third place with a 7-7-2 record overall and 5-4-0 in OEC play.

IVC and Fullerton had their chances to score however in the game. The Laser’s best shot came in the 75th minute when Bruno Sad sent a shot that sailed right to Fullerton goalkeeper Eduardo Gutierrez. Fullerton also outshot the Lasers 11-8 in the game. The Lasers will host Golden West, Friday at 1 p.m.
