Lasers even their record with a win over the Coyotes

LEAPS FOR THE WIN

Irvine Valley College men’s basketball team defeated Cuyamaca College Friday night, 59-44.

IVC won its second straight win and is now 3-3 for non-conference play.

The first half of the game stay­ed close as the Lasers scored 25 while the Coyotes score 23. The Lasers has five blocks and out-rebounded the Coyotes, 40-32.

Lasers’ sophomore forward Jon Reed had a season-high 18 points on five of-10 shooting from the field. Reed made two of four three-point shots, as well as making all six of his free throw shots.

Freshman forward Kwame Alexander finished the game by scoring 14 points. Alexander also had two dunks and 11 rebounds.

Sophomore center Matt Ballard added eight points.

Sophomore guard Jeff Ledbetter and sophomore forward Brandon Hucks seven points each and rebounds to contribute in the win.

IVC will host Miramar Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Hart gymnasium. The Lasers play in the American River tournament Dec. 4-6 in Sacramento.

IVC won the American River tournament last season.

After the American River tourn­ament the Lasers will be playing in two more tournaments before starting back up in non-conference games.
