John Corvino will be speaking on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at noon in the McKinney Theater as apart of the Social {Live} Series. His lecture is called “The Gay Moralist.”

The creative-writing series has been brought to Saddleback to enlighten students on serious debatable issues that are prevalent in our culture and lives. The discussions range from sexual abuse topics, social and personal issues.

I’m excited about the lecture and hope as many students as possible will come and take part in the series,” said Andrae Vigil-Romero from the Office of Student Development.

Corvino will be discussing the prevalence of homosexuality in the Bible and will explore what is explained and why.

All students are encouraged to attend, for this is a non-biased lecture, and will touch on all sides, both pro and con.

Corvino has been addressing moral issues since the early 1990s, speaking at events hosted by professional and governmental organizations, churches as well as colleges and universities. He has also written several print publications as well as at the online Independent Gay Forum. His DVD presentation of “What’s Morally Wrong With Homosexuality?” is available at www.gaymoralist.com.

The award-winning instructor is currently the philosophy department chairman at Wayne State University in Detroit. Corvino was recognized by the Detroit City Council for his work on behalf of LGBT rights, the recipient of the Spirit of Detroit Award in 2004.
