Despite late offensive efforts, the Irvine Valley baseball team came up short to Orange Coast, 7-6, on Thursday in an Orange Empire Conference road game.

The Lasers pulled to within two runs with Matt Ivanoff’s two-run double in the bottom of the eigth. But, with the bases loaded and the tying run on second, OCC closer Justin Peterson struck out IVC leading-hitter Abel Medina. Sean Williams’ two-out, RBI-single in the ninth brought the Lasers as close as they would come.

IVC ‘s Robert Pupura gave up six runs over 5 1/3 innings for the loss, which bumps IVC down to third in the standings behind Orange Coast and Santa Ana.
