IVC Golf with 34-2 record after loss to Santiago Canyon

The Irvine Valley College Women’s golf team lost only its second match in Orange Empire Conference play last Monday.

The loss came to rival Santiago Canyon College at El Prado. However, the Lasers won three of the four matches at Chino Hills.

Now, the Lasers compete in the Orange Empire Conference finals at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills, Nov. 3-5.

The three wins keeps the Lasers well ahead in the OEC standings with a 34-2 record overall.

In a statement released by IVC, Lasers coach Ben Burnett said he is looking for a better performance in conference finals.

“While I was disappointed to see our scores soar on these two windy days,” Burnett said. “I was not disappointed in their effort.”

Felicia Titus, a freshman, led the team with a score of 83.Sam Roberts shot 88. Sophomore’s Val Watts and Alex Cavillo, along with freshmen Bianca Brown, they earned scores of 95.

Santiago Canyon finished first with a team score of 335, the Lasers followed in second place with a 349 score.

Santa Ana came in third at 354.

The Gauchos were fourth with a 391 score.

Fullerton did not have a team score.

The conference finals start at 8 a.m. each day of the event.
