The dreary weather couldn’t dampen the school spirit present at last Saturday’s Saddleback College Homecoming football game. Spectators toted along umbrellas and coats, eager to watch the Gauchos play the Santa Ana City College Dons. During halftime, a special ceremony was held to honor Saddleback alumni. Past coaches, athletic directors, teachers and students stepped in front of the crowd and received gifts from the Associated Student Government in respect to Saddleback’s 40th anniversary.
Afterward, ASG crowned the homecoming king and queen from a group of nine excellent candidates. The candidates for homecoming king were Curtis Hendrickson, Daniel Matthews and Nick Nikbakht. The candidates for homecoming queen were Laura Baker, Laurie Chapman, Liezel Dayrit, Kalin Kelly, Brittney Lewis and Sara Schack. Winners Hendrickson and Dayrit were crowned by the reigning king and queen, Case McQuillan and Verna Abate.
