Gauchos start off strong but get stung by Hornets

test test

In sports you hear the cliche – , it’s good to get off to a quick start. Not always. The Saddleback women’s soccer team scored first, but lost to Fullerton, 2-1, last week.

Cheryl Moore scored for the Gauchos in the fifth minute. But early in the second half the Hornets stung back on a goal by Kenya Torres.

Six minutes later the Hornets came buzzing again as Sarah Larsen scored putting the Hornets up once and for all.

Kat Pegg had three saves for the Gauchos. Ameaghawon Ogiamein had three saves for Fulllerton. The loss drops the Gauchos’ record to 2-4-3.

Rivalries get renewed as the Gauchos play at Irvine Valley Lasers Ffriday at 3 p.m.
