Gauchos fail to regroup at Ventura

Saturday night in front of 3,500 fans at Ventura college, the Gauchos looked to rebound by adding another win to their perfect record against Ventura (7-0) the last meeting between the two teams was back in 2002, and the Gauchos defeated Ventura by a score of 45-10.  Though Ventura is a perfect 5-0 so far this season, Saddleback went into the game looking to get back on track, what they didn’t expect was the complete opposite.  The first two plays of the game, Saddleback lost 28 yards and was forced to punt on the first possession.  Ventura never looked back, they continued to chip away at the Gauchos defense which eventually led to the first score of the game.  Ventura leading 7-0, Saddleback looked to focus on the moment and get back into the game, which they did have brief sparks of hope, but sparks were all they could muster.  Anthony Cade scored both Saddleback touchdowns, one from Jake Geringer, and the other was a short four yard run.  Tim Belman and Jake Geringer both played during the contest, but neither had great success with their efforts.  Geringer went 6 for 10 attempts with one touchdown, and Belman went 14 for 28 with one interception.  Geringer may have had the touchdown, but he was also sacked five times, while Belman was only sacked only once.

Saddleback falls to a record of 1-4 while Ventura improved to a perfect 6-0 so far this season.

The Gauchos play Fullerton college next Saturday 10/13/12, kick off at 6:00PM.
