First writing contest coming to Irvine Valley

Natalie Houalla

For those who think they have an edge with word composition, Irvine Valley College English Club will be hosting its very first writing contest this month.

This is the chance to showcase your writing talent. The contest will incorporate two categories: short stories and poetry.

All students are encouraged to join and does not limit the contest to English majors or English club members.

All IVC students may enter in both categories. The writing contestants may also choose to submit up to three pieces of writing in each division.

There will be awards given out for the top three places of each category. Only one prize can be received per category.

Entries for the contest will be accepted through Feb 29. IVC English faculty will judge the pieces and the all winners will be announced in mid- March.

For those who wish to send their entries by email, you may do so. Submissions must be sent to IVC English Instructor Dr. Kay Ferguson Ryals at [email protected]. Any questions should be sent to the same email address.
