Ex-Gaucho Hiserman named league MVP

Matt Hiserman, a former Capistrano Valley High School pitcher who signed with Santa Clara University but then transferred to the University of San Francisco, had to sit out the 2007 season.

In the fall, 2007 he took classes at Saddleback before moving back to the Bay Area.

During the summer Hiserman played in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League with Big Train of Bethesda, Md., and was named team most valuable player.

He finished with a 0.00 ERA leading the league with 10 saves, while posting a 3-0 record.

During his run he also compiled 37 strikeouts in 34 innings.
